UNICA STUDENT CONFERENCE 2012: "The Ideal European University", University of Oslo, 10-13 October 2012
The UNICA Student Conference “The Ideal European University”.will be hosted by the University of Oslo, 10-13 October 2012.
The Conference is expected to bring together approximately 300 students from UNICA member universities (10 students per capital city). The universities from capitals which count more than 1 UNICA member will be contacted by the UNICA Secretariat regarding the number of delegates.
Accommodation, meals, cultural events and transportation costs within Oslo will be provided by the University of Oslo. Your institution will be only asked to cover the travel costs of a round trip between the student’s city and Oslo.
It is strongly recommended that the students chosen to participate in the Conference are at least in the final year of their first cycle of studies. The official language of the Conference is English and all delegates are required to be fluent in English.
Each university should nominate an academic tutor who will assist in the preparation of the students before the Conference and accompany the students at the Conference. You are further kindly requested to select your University’s contact person responsible for matters regarding the Conference by 20 January 2011.
The University of Oslo’s contact person is Mr Karl Norli (k.a.norli@admin.uio.no).
The official UNICA Student Conference 2012 website will be launched in February 2012 and information regarding the programme, forum topics and practical matters will be available on www.uio.no/unica2012/ from that time.
Europe is currently challenged on many fronts. The climate is changing to the more extreme, there is financial unrest to a smaller or greater extent in every country in Europe, anti-democratic tendencies are sweeping through the Continent, and the divide between rich and poor is even more present.
How will an Ideal European University meet the Grand Challenges that Europe face?
