11 April 2022 | From partners
The International Association of Universities (IAU), with whom UNICA is affiliated to, has just launched the survey “The role of higher education in fostering sustainable development: How do institutions engage with the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs”. This is the third iteration of the IAU Global Survey on higher education and research for sustainable development (HESD), following the two first editions in 2016 and 2019.
The survey uses the Agenda 2030 and the SDGs framework to understand better how HEIs foster and engage with sustainable development. Outcomes will help inform policy and support universities already engaged and those who want to engage with the SDGs. Data and examples collected will be used to advocate for the significant role of higher education in Agenda 2030 at the UN level and to national and local governments.
The data gathered will be presented in a comprehensive outcome report prepared by IAU and used by partners for further analysis. The report will be made available to the global higher education community in open access and initial results will be presented at the UN High-Level Political Forum 2022, and a first draft of the report in October 2022 at the IAU 16th General Conference.
IAU recommends that only one response per institution is submitted, and that ideally, the person is familiar with the SD work at the institution.
