Global Innovation Circle on Higher Education (GICHE)

The Global Innovation Circle on Higher Education (GICHE) is an international networking initiative that brings together leaders of major higher education networks from across the world to foster dialogue, exchange perspectives and develop collaborative responses to shared challenges affecting universities and international academic cooperation.

Initiated by the University of Hamburg in partnership with the German Rectors’ Conference and the Volkswagen Foundation, GICHE provides a platform to “network the networks”, promoting a sustained, inclusive global dialogue on the future of higher education, including issues such as academic values, equity, diversity, international partnerships and cooperation in an increasingly complex geopolitical context.

UNICA’s participation in GICHE strengthens its engagement with the global higher education community, allowing the network to contribute the perspectives of universities in European capital cities to international discussions, build connections with higher education networks across different regions and explore opportunities for collective action. This engagement also reinforces UNICA’s commitment to international cooperation and to the role of universities as drivers of societal change and sustainable transformation.
