ESN and ESU launch survey on International Student Housing
15 November 2022 | From partners
The Erasmus Student Network (ESN) and the European Students’ Union (ESU) partnered to launch a Flash survey to analyse the challenges of international students to find accommodation abroad. This is Europe-wide research project covering housing problems International Students experience in the Academic year 2022-2023.
The findings of the survey will help ESN and ESU understand the concerns of international students to better represent their interests to Higher Education Institutions, National Authorities and European Institutions.
According to ESN and ESU, the housing situation of international students – which was already a long-standing challenge in the implementation of Erasmus+ mobilities – has worsen due to the raise of inflation and the cost of living crisis. The latest data from the ESN Survey 2021 shows that more than 15% of respondents reported having a lot of issues with their accommodation and that the degree of dissatisfaction with the provision of accommodation was among the highest of all the services provided by Universities. The organisations are also concern with potential issues with anxiety and stress, which are closely interlinked with issues with accommodation.
