UNICA Research

UNICA Research is the cluster that focus on enhancing universities’ institutional research capacity, mainly in the context of the European landscape. Through knowledge exchange, collaboration on shared challenges and opportunities, and policy efforts, UNICA seeks that its members strengthen their research ecosystems, policies, support, and capacity.

The development of the European Research Area – the ambition to create a single, borderless market for research, innovation and technology across the EU – is of particular relevance to this cluster.

UNICA Research continues the work of the “EU Research Liaison Officers – EURLO”, established in 2006. The group started as a platform for the exchange of information, good practices, and solutions to overcome common difficulties resulting from the complex EU research funding rules & schemes, but it widened its scope over the years to include broader topics related to the European research landscape.

Today, UNICA Research provides a space to discuss European research and innovation policies, programmes, and emerging developments, while contributing to shaping the European research agenda by collaborating with like-minded organisations and networks to maximise the impact of its policy engagement.
