UNICA-Eutopia Panel on research ethics | 27 January 2022, 10:00-11:30 CET

Promoted by Stockholm University and Vrije Universiteit Brussel.

The webinar has been an opportunity to discuss existing and emerging ethical challenges in European research projects. The session includes a keynote address followed by a panel session with research ethics staff at UNICA’s member universities.

The webinar aimed to find responses to the following questions among others:

  • Are researchers sufficiently motivated to address ethics issues? What factors influence their motivation?
  • What are the main practical challenges researchers face when implementing ethics requirements?
  • Is there enough support in dealing with new and emerging ethics domains (such as dual use technologies, gene editing, artificial intelligence, etc.)?

The webinar has been introduced by a speech about ethics from the perspective of the European Commission by Dorian Karatzas, Head of Sector for Ethics and Research Integrity at the EC.
