EWORA’s 2nd webinar on female leadership in universities of science & technology | 27 April

Story highlights
– 2nd webinar of a series aimed at developing strategies to increase female participation in university leadership

The European Women Rectors Association (EWORA) is organising the 2nd webinar of the series “Advancing leadership at European level and beyond by women rectors of technical universities” on the 27th of April from 16H00 to 17H30 CEST. UNICA is a supporting organisation of this event, together with CESAER.

The webinar continues the conversation from the first webinar, held on the 13th of April, on why there is still a very limited number of female rectors at European universities of science & technology. Conclusions will feed into the development of proposals to increase the participation of female leaders. In this webinar, participants will have the opportunity to analyze cases together, define barriers and create solutions to encourage younger generations to run for the top leadership position in universities of science & technology in Europe, and beyond.

This webinar is publicly open and registration is free.

About the topic

The power of science & technology to transform society, for better and for worse, has been demonstrated repeatedly throughout history. Universities of science & technology have specific roles and responsibilities related to advancing developments in science & technology, and ensuring these are for the benefit of humankind. Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) provide a human-centric framework, foundational for this endeavour, as it enables more meaningful and deeper engagement with all of society.

At the same time and for a range of reasons, including historical ones, universities of science & technology have often not been ‘best-in-class’ in DEI in general, and in the promotion of women leadership in specific. Overcoming this shortcoming is therefore important to support universities of science & technology to assume their societal roles and responsibilities, and to boost their contributions to society.
