“Strengthening Research Collaboration in a Changing Landscape: Shared Research Infrastructures and Research Data Security” | University of Warsaw, 25-26 September 2025
The University of Warsaw hosted the annual meeting of the UNICA Research Working Group in late September, titled “Strengthening Research Collaboration in a Changing Landscape: Shared Research Infrastructures and Research Data Security”.
The event focused on two foundational themes for the future of European research: Research Infrastructures (RIs) and Research Data Management & Security and explored best practices, policy frameworks and strategic directions for RIs and data management & security, providing an opportunity for leaders in academia and experts to learn and reflect on the shape of the European research landscape.
Key discussion points included:
- The role of universities in shaping the European RIs landscape, in articulation with European initiatives like ESFRI, ERIC, CFs.
- The strategic importance of open science and collaborative governance models in the development of RIs.
- The challenges of balancing open access with data security, particularly in the context of research collaboration with global partners.
- Data stewardship: How can universities and research institutions foster a culture of responsible data management and equip researchers with the skills necessary for data sharing and reusing?
