UNICA Days 2026 in Brussels – Conference Report
23 March 2026
Following two successful editions in 2024 and 2025, the third edition of UNICA Days took place in Brussels from 25 to 27 February 2026 under the theme “EU–Canada Cooperation: Shared Values, Shared Futures.” The event brought together representatives from European and Canadian universities, research institutions, public bodies, and academic networks to reflect on the evolving role of higher education in addressing global challenges and strengthening transatlantic cooperation.
UNICA Days 2026 highlighted the importance of universities as drivers of knowledge, civic engagement, and democratic values, while exploring new opportunities for collaboration between the EU and Canada. Through discussions on research funding, innovation partnerships, climate action, science diplomacy, and the promotion of global citizenship, the conference reaffirmed the strategic importance of EU-Canada academic cooperation as a cornerstone for shaping a resilient, inclusive, and forward‑looking transatlantic partnership.
