More than 30 participants attended the 10th UNICA PhD Master Class in Dubrovnik, at the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies of the University of Zagreb, on September 1-4, 2019. The Master Class was organized in cooperation with PRIDE – Association for Professionals in Doctoral Education. 10 Uzbeks colleagues from the UZDOC 2.0 project also joined this year’s edition.

This year’s special 10th anniversary edition focused on the growing concerns with wellbeing, having as a topic “Supervision revisited: Supervisors – PhD Candidates – Wellbeing, creating a balanced triangle”. The initiative gathered high level representatives from different Universities in Europe, Doctoral Supervisors, Academics, Senior Managers and Administrative and Technical Professionals working in the area of Doctoral Education as well as PhD candidates.

The Master Class combined different activities such as interactive panel, working groups, a gallery walk, a speakers’ corner and even an “out of the box” exercise focused on Mental Equilibrium. The participants also had the opportunity to meet with Croatian Film Director Rajko Grlic for the screening of his critically acclaimed movie “The Constitution, to which followed a discussion about the storyline and communicating values and societal issues through art.
