UNICA joins the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine
09 March 2026 | From UNICA
UNICA is pleased to announce its membership in the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine, a multi-stakeholder initiative to address the urgent and long-term recovery of Ukraine’s research and innovation sector.
Officially launched at the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2025 in Rome on 11 July – with the signing of the Rome Declaration of Intent for Science, Research and Innovation, – the Coalition aims to provide a platform for a broad range of stakeholders to mobilise greater support for Ukraine’s research and innovation ecosystem and advocate for its role in Ukraine’s broader recovery. The objective is to address both the urgent needs and long-term challenges of Ukraine’s research and innovation ecosystem, by promoting concrete actions for its reconstruction and modernization, supporting Ukrainian scientists, and recognizing the central role of the sector in the country’s recovery.
The Coalition’s website, launched in early 2026, provides information on actions implemented by Coalition members, highlights of specific actions undertaken by the Coalition’s members, and key developments and updates on the Coalition’s work.
By joining the International Coalition for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine, UNICA aims to support the recovery and long-term development of Ukraine’s research and higher education sector. By leveraging the expertise and strategic location of its members, UNICA also seeks to highlight the essential role universities play in Ukraine’s reconstruction, innovation, and long-term resilience.
