UNICA statement on recent developments in Ukraine

UNICA is deeply concerned about the recent developments in Ukraine. We stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and the academic communities of UNICA’s Ukrainian member as well as of other Ukrainian universities.
As a community of the Universities of the European Capitals committed to democratic values and to the idea of dialogue and non-coercive action as a means of social understanding and global collaboration, we sincerely hope that the respect for human dignity and human rights, freedom, equality, and the rule of law weigh heavily in the outcome of this distressing situation.
With hopes of a pondered and swift end of this crisis, we reaffirm our commitment to peace in the European continent by upholding our mission to empower universities to put knowledge, research, and innovation at the service of democratic societies.
