The UNICA Rectors Seminar: Shaping the University of the 21st century will be hosted by Universidad Complutense de Madrid, 28 February - 1 March 2019.
Despite the common belief that universities are very traditional, static institutions, universities of the 21st century are in constant transition: They engage in the inner re-structuring of departments and faculties and even go through the complex and multi-step merger processes to meet the new political, economic and social contexts. With the launch of the "European university networks" initiative, calling for higher education institutions to adopt new, innovative ways of organising their international & strategic cooperation, a discussion on the pros and cons of different structural and organisational changes, as well as the difficulties and goals that come with them, becomes necessary.
The UNICA Rectors Seminar at Universidad Complutense de Madrid will look at the internal and external (re)shaping that universities have undergone and that will surely continue to experience in the future.
The discussions will be structured in three Roundtables (one on Thursday afternoon, two on Friday) and will be complemented by keynote speeches.
Rectors/Presidents, ViceRectors/Vice-Presidents, other representatives of academic leadership & university top management
