The UNICA Scholarly Communication webinar “Upskilling librarians to meet new library roles” promoted by the Université libre de Bruxelles took place on 12 November 2020 (15:00 - 16:30 PM CET)

Over the past few years, libraries have been developing new services and tools to support teaching, learning and research at their university. For example, Fablabs, support for research data management, open access and copyright issues, open science, journal and book publishing, digitization of collections, repositories, etc.

Providing these new services requires librarians to develop new skills and competencies. How are libraries facing this challenge? What types of continuous education programmes are being set up? The webinar presented examples and experiences of staff training programmes implemented by UNICA libraries to improve librarians' skills and enable them to take on new roles.
