International Summer Program 2014 – University of Vienna

Strobl (Austria), July 12 - August 9, 2014

The International Summer Program 2013 organized by the Sommerhochschule of the University of Vienna offers four weeks of European Studies and intercultural exchange.

PROGRAM
Over 80 students from more than 30 nationalities attend the summer program every year. The diverse student body creates ideal conditions for intercultural and social learning. The interdisciplinary character of the European Studies courses allows students to think and learn beyond their field of study. They get the chance to work with fellow students from various academic disciplines.

The European Studies courses are held in English and focus on Europe and the European Union. They cover political, economic, and legal, but also historical and cultural aspects of the multiple transformations the continent is currently undergoing. Students will study both the processes within the various institutions as well as the goals of the EU as a whole.

In addition to that, German language courses are offered on four levels of proficiency (A1, A2, B1, and B2).

The Sommerhochschule grants credits according to the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). Each European Study course amounts to 4 ECTS-credits, each German Language course to 8 ECTS-credits. The faculty consists of 16 professors devoted to the International Summer Program. They are carefully chosen for their expertise and their motivation to teach international students.

FACILITIES

The picturesque campus is located directly on the shore of Lake Wolfgang in one of Austria’s most famous vacation areas. It is surrounded by meadows and woods and offers a spectacular view of the nearby mountains. The campus features a variety of sport and recreational facilities (e.g. swimming in the lake, row boats, sports hall, football field). A pier and boat house invite students to relax, sunbathe or meet with others. Sport trainers offer free courses throughout the duration of the summer program. On the weekends excursions to the city of Salzburg, St. Wolfgang and Ebensee are organized. The engaging campus life stimulates joint activities. Students make friends for life and build connections for their future professional careers.
Students are accommodated in comfortable single or double rooms on campus. All rooms are equipped with private baths and a desk for each student. Meals and accommodation can be compared to ***hotels.
