Invitation to the Conference “Embedding Digital into Societal Challenges”, Brussels, 7 December 2017

The Estonian Research Council and Estonian Ministry of Education and Research have the pleasure to invite you to the Estonian Presidency Conference “Embedding Digital into Societal Challenges”. 

 

The event with will take place on Thursday7 December 2017 from 12:30 to 17:40 and will be held in the Residence Palace (Rue de la Loi 155, 1040 Brussels). A networking reception will follow after the Conference.

 

Theme of the Conference

The Conference fuels the debate on integrating digital domain into societal challenges, and aims to give messages to the discussions on European research and innovation policy. The EUscience, research and innovation policy plays an important part in merging the physical and digital worlds by maximising the synergies between digital technologies and innovative solutions to societal challenges in areas like health, food, energy, water, bioeconomy and transport.

 

Two main working sessions are planned:  

  • Session I: Data as a key enabler for Europe’s future.
  • Session II: Societal acceptance of digital solutions.

 

Showcases on how digitally savvy Estonia has reacted to arising challenges of embedding digital into societal challenges with research based solutions will presented. An open poster area will be present with the conference in cooperation with Universities and Science Parks of Estonia. Each poster is accompanied with a one-page summary including a short description and a section to connect the solution to societal challenges.

 

The Conference will be moderated by Richard Hudson and Maryline Fiaschi from Science|Business.
