Call for Partners: ALF Call for short term projects 2010 – Cities, Migrants and Diversity

 
The Turkish NGO and Member of ALF Turkey ”S&G – System and Generation Association” is searching for project partner organisations in the EU and the South Mediterranean.


The main aim of the project is contributing to bring people together and promoting respect for diversity, better understanding and mutual recognition through intercultural dialogue and sharing common spaces for peace and coexistence. Therefore, S&G intends to organise a forum to strengthen the awareness of participants about integration and public participation of migrants, diversity and the prevention of stereotypes and xenophobia, peace and coexistence and about the culture of reconciliation.

The forum entitled “MDC Forum 2011 Exchange to Change” will take place in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey, and will last for five days. It will involve about 70 young participants all across Europe, Turkey and the Southern Mediterranean.

Proposed Activity Plan:

Day 1 – Arrivals: Arrival of all the participants. In the evening opening ceremony with important guest speakers to officially declare the session opened. Welcoming dinner, information about the forum and time to socialize and get to know each other.

Day 2 – Migration Day: Introduction in legal and illegal migration issues (Expert talk); Finding ways to alleviate the integration of migrants into society. Increasing the knowledge about the social and cultural diversity of populations with migration background in the Euro-Med region. Rising the understanding for different cultural practices, religious diversity, community life among others and different languages.

Day 3 – Diversity Day:
Recognition and increase knowledge about the rich diversity of cultures in the Euro-Med region. Pointing out origin of stereotypes and xenophobia and finding ways to prevent xenophobia by strengthening the perception of diversity as an asset. Diminishing stereotypes and xenophobia by strengthening social cohesion and increasing knowledge and responsibility of each individual. In the evening, each delegation is expected to present their country in the Euro-Med Village event. Delegations will bring their traditional local food, national costumes and share their traditional dances with the other participants.

Day 4 – Coexistence Day: Fair with participation of embassies, international organisations, international NGOs, public entities, ect. Fostering the development of mutual understanding and promoting a culture of peace. Finding ways to share knowledge with the general public and encouraging mutual respect. In the evening participants will listen and participate in an unique concert. The Euro-Med concert is an opportunity for those who wish to entertain the session participants with a musical piece. This is the chance for participants to demonstrate their talents and present their culture of music in their country.

Day 5 – (Networking of ALF): Capacity Building for NGOs, Brainstorming on partnership for change and exchange, SWOFT analysis Presentation of obtained results of the forum, Closing ceremony, Farewell evening

Day 6 – Departures:
Final evaluation of the session, Departures

Partnerships and eligibility of partners: Partners may be non-governmental organizations, educational, cultural, academic or research institutions, non-profit media, foundations or local authorities, private entities. The membership in ALF National Networks is not mandatory for the partners associated to the project.
