From the 4th to the 11th of May 2012, Erasmus Student Network will involve thousands of Erasmus students in social activities in the framework of the SocialErasmus project to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus programme.
SocialErasmus is the flagship project of the Erasmus Student Network in the framework of the 25th anniversary of the Erasmus Programme. Its aim is to involve Erasmus students in social activities that benefit the local community. The project is based on three pillars: education, environment and charity. Based in 36 countries at around 400 universities, the ESN local sections created many different activities linked to these pillars. Amongst the most widespread activities are visits to school to promote other European cultures, planting trees in the forest or visiting orphanages.
Created in 2010 as an international project of the Erasmus Student Network, the project aims to show the added value of the presence of Erasmus students within their host country under the motto: Reach Higher, Go Further, Go Social!
During the SocialErasmus week, hundreds of activities will take place all over Europe. 17 countries prepared national activities: the complete list with the detail of the activities organized is to be found on socialerasmus.esn.org and you can visit the event map for a complete overview: http://g.co/maps/2y9mt.

Erasmus Student Network (ESN) is one of the biggest non-profit interdisciplinary student associations in Europe, founded in 1989 for supporting and developing student exchange. ESN is present in more than 390 Higher Education Institutions from 36 countries. ESN works for the creation of a more mobile and flexible education environment by supporting and developing student exchanges on different levels, and providing an intercultural experience also to those students who cannot access a period abroad ('internationalisation at home').
