UGAF TRAINEESHIP CALL 2013: Apply by 11 February 2013!

UNICA Secretariat, based in Brussels, is currently seeking a trainee with a solid academic background and interest in environmental sustainability to work with the UNICA team on the UNICA Green Academic Footprint initiative.

Job description:
  • Main responsibility: supporting the UNICA Working Group in the development of the Green Academic Footprint initiative, updating the Group’s web page, web-based research & collecting information on EC programmes& initiatives relevant for the Group, attending and reporting on the Brussels-based meetings, seminars and conferences related to the environmental field, contribution to drafting the Group’s documents and publications.
  • Assisting the UNICA team in the current tasks and activities: supporting the organization of meetings, preparing meeting agendas and reports, supporting ongoing EC projects, updating the UNICA website, maintaining contacts with student associations.
Requirements:
  • Academic background and keen interest in the areas such as: Environmental Studies, Environment and Resource Management, Sustainable Development Management; we would especially welcome students who participated in and contributed to student conferences and forums on environmental protection and policy-making (e.g. World Student Environmental Summit).
  • Very good verbal and written command of English, the working language of the Network; the command of French is desirable
  • Knowledge of international and EU environmental policies and a good understanding of the decision-making activities of the EU institutions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially Word, Excel and Outlook; basic knowledge of HTML would be an asset 
  • Openness, flexibility, ability to prioritize tasks and work independently

UNICA offers an opportunity to work in a small but multinational office, acquire sound knowledge on the functioning of an institutional network of Universities and the recent developments in the field of the EHEA & ERA, and gain hands-on experience in varied activities and projects of the Network.

Priority is given to Erasmus or Leonardo grant holders coming from UNICA member universities. Please note that only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.


Candidates should be available to start in late February/ beginning of March and are required to commit to 30 hours per week for a minimum duration of 3 months. Commitments of greater duration (up to 6 months) are welcome.


Please note that this is a non-remunerated position. The trainee receives a small monthly reimbursement of expenses and a monthly public transportation pass.
