Brian Talty

Brian Talty joined UNICA in 2023 and contributes to shaping the organization’s policy positions that benefit our member, with focus on the European Universities Initiative and the protection of academic freedom.

Brian’s transition from a career in the financial services sector to the dynamic world of education policy occurred while he was pursuing his master’s degree at the University of Helsinki. During his tenure at the University of Helsinki, Brian served as the Chair of the UNA Europa University Alliance Student Board, contributed to the establishment of a local student task force,  and promoted student engagement in University alliances’ strategies. Brian’s European perspective was further enriched during his policy trainee position at the UNA Europa office in Brussels.

Brian holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from University College Dublin (UCD) and completed his Master’s in Global Governance Law at the University of Helsinki. His educational background equips him with a solid foundation in both legal and global governance aspects, which proves invaluable in his current role at UNICA
