Message following the attacks in London and Saint Petersburg

On 22 March 2017, one year after the terrorist attacks in Brussels, an atrocious attack took place in Westminster, London, leaving 5 people dead and about 50 injured, some of them severly. Less than two weeks later, a terrorist attack in Saint Petersburg metro killed 14 people and left more than 40 injured.

UNICA President Prof. Luciano Saso, Members of the Steering Committee, and the staff of the UNICA Secretariat extend condolences to the families, relatives, and friends of those killed in the attacks. We stand in solidarity with the communities of our member university King's College London and of our Russian member universities, Lomonosov Moscow State University and the National Research University Higher School of Economics, who have their regional branches based in Saint Petersburg.

While commemorating the memory of innocent victims of the attacks, we shall not forget about all those suffering from terrorism, war crimes and cruelty elsewhere in the world.
